State Central Committee elects Carlbom as new Minnesota DFL chair

EDINA, Minn. – Richard Carlbom is new chair of the Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor Party. 

The State Central Committee elected Governor Walz’s deputy chief of staff as DFL chair at its weekend business meeting in Edina. Carlbom replaces longtime DFL Chairman Ken Martin, who is the new chair of the Democratic National Committee. 

Carlbom is the former mayor of St. Joseph and led the campaign to defeat the 2012 constitutional amendment that would have banned same-sex marriage.
